The
special catch which attaches the Ventguard plate to the airbrick is hand
made in a precision engineering workshop. This stainless steel catch consists
of a threaded rod and a " drop toggle". The pictures below show
how it operates.
![]() The
toggle on the end of the threaded rod swings on a solid stainless steel
pin. When applying or removing the Ventguard plate the toggle should
be horizontal as shown in the picture. This allows the rod to be inserted
or extracted. The toggle goes to the horizontal when the rod is turned
clockwise. A marker on the other end of the rod lets you know the toggle
position.
![]() To
tighten the Ventguard plate against the airbrick you must then set the
toggle to the vertical position. This is done by turning the rod anti
clockwise. The toggle then drops into the vertical position. The toggle
should then be pulled against the back of the airbrick. The plate on the
outside is then tightened against the outer face of the airbrick.
![]() Only
takes about 30 seconds to fix or remove.
