Is
it reusable?
Why use only stainless steel?
|
Floodwater
can be an extremely powerful force. We therefore decided to use the strongest
possible material. We also found that a Ventguard made of plastic could
not take the pressure required to push the sealing membrane into each
airbrick hole - the plastic would eventually crack. In addition, a plastic
cover could be damaged by floating debris during a flood and water might
then enter through the airbrick.
How
does the Ventguard attach to the vent/airbrick?
Stainless
steel is extremely strong and can withstand great pressures. The
special threaded catch consists of a thin threaded stainless steel rod
with a weighted swivel toggle on the end. This catch is actually a piece
of precision engineering and is the most vital part of the whole device.
This catch goes through one of the airbrick holes and grasps the back
of the airbrick. To make the toggle grasp the back of the airbrick you
turn rod in a clockwise direction - the Ventguard can then be tightened
against the airbrick. To remove the Ventguard the rod is simply turned
anti-clockwise, the toggle releases and the Ventguard can be removed.
This whole operation takes about 30 seconds. Full instructions are provided.
Has
it been tested?H
We have conducted our own independent tests. In a one metre still water test with the plate tensioned so that the sealing membrane entered the airbrick holes, there was found to be no leakage. In an outdoor test, a Ventguard was attached to an airbrick which was set in a house wall with a pebble dash finish. It was then subjected to water flow from a pressure washer. There was no water penetration through the Ventguard. Ventguard
can be used time and again. All parts are replaceable should they get
lost or damaged. We always have a stock of spare parts.

What
type of vents /airbricks does Ventguard fit?
Easifit
Ventguard
is not suitable for plastic vents or horizontal louvre vents. Ventguard
fits standard vents/airbricks either in double brick (9x6) or single brick
size (9x3). The number or pattern of holes in the airbrick does not matter
- the Ventguard will fit so long as there is a hole at or near the centre
of the airbrick. The Ventguards are slightly larger than the airbricks
which they fit so the fixing hole need not be exactly in the centre of
the airbrick
